Hurricane Holiday

I had just finished working with my violin tutor on Bach’s “Gavotte,” when she said, “Florida is due for a hurricane.” My sister and I were stunned, because we were from California and had never experienced extreme weather, and my mom was worried. After stocking up on drinks and canned food, my mom was still worried. Wisely, she decided we should evacuate, so she  bought us plane tickets to Washington D.C. where my grandparents live. While I wouldn’t want to live in D.C., it was a wonderful place to visit. In D.C., we visited the National Gallery, which has beautiful art. We also took a trip to the Virginia Zoo, which we enjoyed.
The National Gallery has beautiful art. When we walked inside, the first thing we saw was a colossal fountain with Cupid on the top. Next, we saw Greek statues. We walked with the other tourists into a room with paintings of dancers by Degas.Throughout the museum, there were a lot of artists concentratedly copying famous paintings because they want to learn the style of famous artists. My sister thought that the artists were going to commit art fraud. We also saw a famous self portrait of Van Gogh. My mom got into deep conversation with one of the artists, because she wanted to know how they so got close to the originals. My dad, who was interested in seeing DC, came too.  If you are looking for beautiful art go to the National Gallery.
Going to the Virginia Zoo is a very enjoyable (yet expensive) experience.  The reason we wanted to explore the zoo was to stare at a panda named Bao Bao, who was in The New York Times. First, we strolled over to pet an alpaca. Unfortunately, we  couldn't because the farm was under construction. Next, we hurried over to Lion and Tiger Mountain. At the mountain, we observed cute lionesses, but no lion. We also viewed a tiger who looked as bored as a 6th grader writing a paper on going to the zoo in Virginia. One of the pretty pandas was pregnant, so we didn't  glimpse the pandas, because she needed peace and quiet. My sister and I delightly rode on the carousel 2 times. The first time I joyfully rode a  flamingo then I enthusiastically rode an ostrich. If you want to have a fun experience, you should visit the  zoo in Virginia.
At the National Gallery, which was pretty cool, we saw a lot of beautiful art. We also had an amusing time at the Virginia Zoo. While we visited interesting places, that was not the most important part of our trip. Thankfully,my family was able to evacuate Miami before Hurricane Irma hit. We were together. We were happy. We were safe. I will never forget the time we escaped our first hurricane by traveling to Washington, D.C.

Jane

Jane Austen lived comfortably until her father died and she had nowhere to go. Eventually she moved to a cottage where she began to write her books. Charles Dickens was a poor boy, who from the start had to make his own money. When he got an editing  job he started to wright. They wrought very differently but both showed their lives through their  books. Jane’s books were more happy, and charles’s books are more sad and depressed.

A little baby girl was born to the Austen's on December 16 1775 in Steventon, Hampshire. Her name was Jane Austen. She lived in a comfortable house with her mother, father, brothers and sister. When Jane’s father died she, her mother and sister had nowhere to live. They were poor, because at the time women could not inherit money . If they were not married they would have nowhere to go. but finally Jane’s brother gave them a small cottage that he owned. This is where Jane began to wright. She was now comfortable and able to make up love stories based on the world that she lived in. Some of her most famous books are Pride and Prejudice, Emma, and Sence and Sense Ability.   She did not write her name on the books. She instead wrought written by A Lady. People loved the stories. Unfortunately Jane Austen died on July 18, 1817 because, of Tuberculosis. People did not know who was the amazing author until her brother told the world who had written these fabulous and breathtaking stories.

Charles Dickens was born on February 7, 1812 to the dickens's. Charles’s family was extremely poor. When Charles was just a little boy his father went to jail for racking up debts. Charles had to quit school so he could work at a factory, Because he did not have enough money to survive. This is probably where he got most of his ideas for his books, his own childhood. When he was a young man he became the editor for the weakly paper. He started to like writing. When he grew up he married and had children. He had already written many of his books.Such as Oliver twist, Great expectations and a christmas carol. Unfortunately for his wife he fell in love with a young and beautiful actor who he married. When he was on a train with his lovely new wife the train crashed many were injured, he helped take care of them. His last book was “ The Mystery of Edwin Drood”. After that on June 9, 1870 he died at the age of fifty-eight.

Jane Austen and Charles Dickens wrought very differently but both wrought based on their lives. Jane Austen’s characters were always dancing drinking tea and falling in love. Charles dickens characters were almost always working, suffering and dieing. In Pride and Prejudice the biggest conflict is Lydia’s flirt with Wickham. Whereas in Oliver Twist people are shot and stolen from. Jane Austen grew up with much more money than Charles Dickens. Life in Jane’s books are happy, delightful, and gossiping. But life it Charles Dickens stories are scary, hate full and fearsome.

Both Jane Austen and Charles dickens wrought different stories but they both wrought about their lives. Jane grew up in with her family and no struggle and charles grew up in the worst part of town. There stories are just like their lives. Different and alike.

Florida Hurricane

Hurricanes - Learning about Hurricanes for kids and children

Hurricanes have lots of cold rain and wind. Hurricanes can cause flooding and lots of wind. They can be up to 6 miles across and make a spiraling shape. Hurricanes form over warm water and use it (the warm water) for its energy.  They move 10-20 miles across the ocean. Hurricanes are only dangerous once they hit land. If that happens then they can knock over trees, power lines and buildings with their strong wind. They can also cause big waves, tornadoes, thunder, lightning and flooding.  We are going to have a hurricane in a week, maby!
